The privacy URL AdMob and the stores ask for

Play, the App Store, and AdMob want a public page, not a file in a chat thread. This site has one. It has to stay true.

5 minute read

Google Play, the App Store, and AdMob each ask for a privacy policy link. The link has to open without a login, on a phone, and describe the app you are actually shipping. A PDF on a drive fails that test. The privacy page here is the URL you paste into those forms.

One URL can cover the studio

If the same operator publishes every app, and the policy really does mention each of them, you can reuse one URL. The policy on this site covers the website and the apps listed on it: what the site stores in the browser, what the apps store on the device, and what an advertising SDK is allowed to do. If a later app collects accounts, location, or photos, the shared policy is no longer true until you edit it.

Match the form to the binary

  • Data safety in Play Console should list the same categories as the policy.
  • If you are not using AdMob yet, do not say the app shares an advertising ID.
  • If you turn AdMob on, update the policy and the store form in the same release.
  • Do not mark the app as made for children unless it is, and you have removed interest-based ads.

The publisher desk copies the live privacy URL, including the domain you are on right now. That is the string to paste. Check it in a private window afterward. If the page asks for a sign-in, or still names a studio that is not you, fix it before you submit.
